OUR TEAM
Leonardo Caffarello
Manager and Head of Design and Integration
From Brazil. 2nd year Physics. Interested in particle physics, quantum gravity theory, space exploration.
Functions:
As project manager he is responsible for the organizational structure of the team, such as planning, operating the meetings, looking for testing facilities, and overall progress of the team. As head of design and integration he will be in charge of the design of the cloud chamber mechanism, and working along with Hector, Giulia, and Javier, guiding the design process of each of the subsystems and coming up with ways to integrate them and solve possible issues may arise.
Javier Perez Tobia
Deputy Manager, Head of Pressure Control and Fire Prevention and Flight Coordinator
From Spain. 1st year Physics. Interested in particle physics and quantum mechanics.
Functions:
As deputy manager Javier is responsible for the finances of the project, keeping track of budget, and looking for new sponsors or funding programs. His role as Flight Coordinator includes designing pre/during/post-flight procedures, experiment shipping, and travel logistics. Javier is designing the fire prevention system keeping in mind the limitations stated by the SEDS and CSA. As head of pressure control system, Javier will make sure the Nuytco box is working under all the constraints of the CAN-SBX project.
Hector Carrillo Estrada
Head Electrical Control Systems and Software Designer
From Mexico. 1st-year Computer Science. Interested in robotics, automation and physics.
Functions:
Hector will be designing all electrical systems that will control the other subsystems. He is entitled to ensure the batteries are suitable for use in flight, and design methods to prevent any possible electrical hazards. He is also responsible to ensure that the subsystems designed by the other team members will be able to run with the power available.
Giulia Rossi
Head of Testing and Safety and Thermodynamics Analyst
From Italy. 2nd year Mechanical Engineering. Interested in energy engineering, specifically the development of clean energy technologies.
As head of thermal control systems, Giulia will be working with Leonardo to design and establish a working thermal environment for the cloud chamber, choose thermal insulation materials, calculate the power required from the heating system, and design thermodynamic controls. As head of testing & safety, Giulia is entitled to design and organize the testing agenda and procedures. She is responsible for the safety and instructions of all tests.
Philip Noah Eibl
Head of Data Analysis and Head of Outreach
From Austria. 2nd year Combined Computer Science and Data Science. Interested in programming and data analysis.
Functions:
Philipp is responsible to ensure that the post-flight analysis software will be running after the collection of data occurs. He will be designing the camera controls and testing the software prior to launch, dealing with the data processing, designing the network architecture and algorithm. As head of outreach Philipp will be the direct point of contact between the high school team and the AC2O team.
